“Where is the ice cream?” and “When will it be ready?” has to be the two biggest conversation starters that I have with people. It’s gotten to the point that I just ask them where’s the ice cream before they can ask me. Am I annoyed at how many people want to buy it? NO! Of course not! I want everybody to bug me, well sort of. Therefore, instead of bugging me, you can just keep up to date by reading this blog and checking out the website.

So, to answer the biggest question in Cleveland, here is the official response from the Ice Cream Man:

The ice cream is coming soon. I can’t give you an exact date as to when because I am waiting for one small detail to be approved by the Department of Agriculture. What’s this one small detail? Well, it turns out the font size on some of the words on the label are a bit to small. So I’ve been waiting for about a month now for them to tell me exactly what font size I need to increase it to.

While this is one small detail in the grand scheme of things, I can’t move forward with printing up the labels and then production until I have the labels officially approved by the Dept. of Agriculture. I understand the need for their approval, since they try to protect consumers from false claims and mislabeled products. However, I’m not thrilled at the speed at which they are getting back to me about my labels.

Therefore, once I receive approval, the ice cream should hit the shelves about two to three weeks afterwards. I will need to have the labels changed and printed up, and then I can start production. So hold onto your hats, because it really is coming, just not as fast as we had all hoped for.

Fear not, I will make sure everybody knows when to expect it in the stores, and which stores they can purchase it in. Check back on this blog in the next couple days for more insider information about which flavors and sizes will be the first to hit the stores.

Till we meet again…

Well, you may have seen this in email from a few months ago when I had a big sale out of the back of the Golden Ice Cream Chariot, however, I figured this would be a good addition to the history records. So here is a copy of the email originally sent out along with the photos…

The legendary Bigfoot has been spotted in the Shannon Road Ice Cream factory freezer. If you don’t believe me, check out the photos for yourself, the proof is in the Non Dairy Frozen Dessert (I know, I know, it’s supposed to be pudding, whatever!). Bigfoot was digging through the ice cream and made off with all the Chocolate Peanut Butter Swirl, so unfortunately for all you PB lovers, we won’t have any for this week. However, there will be plenty of other flavors to choose from:

Chocolate

Vanilla

Cookies N’ Cream

Vanilla Fudge Brownie

Chocolate Fudge Brownie

French Vanilla Coffee

Butter Pecan

Mint Chocolate Chip

Mint Chocolate Cookie

More news to come tomorrow in regards to the when and where for the ice cream. And if anybody thinks they recognize Bigfoot, you don’t!

Have a good night!

OK, now for some real news about Shannon Road Ice Cream.

Everybody wants to know when and where they can buy their favorite Non Dairy Ice Cream (pronounced Non Dairy Frozen Dessert). First of all, let me be very clear, as much as you want to buy my frozen happiness, I want to sell it to you even more. So please don’t think I’m holding out on you for some sinister reason, I do want to sell it to you!

As to what’s the hold up, well, after spending many months perfecting the recipes and all the other paperwork and legal mumbo jumbo, right now, my labels are being reviewed by the Ohio Dept. of Agriculture. Once I get the go ahead from them, I will then submit my labels to the printer to be printed up. This can take anywhere from a week to two weeks, after which point I can start production.

Obviously the middle of the winter is not historically the ideal time of the year to launch a frozen product into the market. However, I’ve got a good feeling that it will be received well considering that the other day at the Chinese auction (a fundraiser for my kids school) I served about 800 scoops of ice cream. Obviously not many people are going to turn down free ice cream, but it does bode well for when we hit the stores.

As for the where; I’ve approached the local Cleveland Heights/Beachwood Ohio kosher stores and they are very interested in carrying Shannon Road Ice Cream. I’ll also be approaching the larger chain stores once I have everything together to make a proper presentation with the ice cream in the packaging. So, fear not, the creamy frozen happiness will be hitting a store near you soon; just keep your eyes peeled and check back often for the latest news.

Until my next blog…

“If it looks like ice cream, smells like ice cream and tastes like ice cream, it must be a Non Dairy Frozen Dessert!”

Well, I finally got around to sitting down and writing the very first Shannon Road Ice Cream Blog or “The ShRIC” (pronounced shriek) as I like to refer to it since it just seems to roll of the tongue with some magical musical quality. Well actually, ShRIC is more reminiscent of my 9th grade English teacher and what she always used to do at me. Like there’s anything wrong with reading books in class, it was an ENGLISH class! I guess I’ll just come up with another cool name later.

Anyways, what news and information do I have to share with you about Shannon Road Ice Cream, well not much actually. So, why, you ask am I writing this blog? Well when a friend of mine asked me why I haven’t sent any wonderful informative emails recently, I told him that I didn’t have anything of substance to tell the world. Well, like a true friend, he pointed out that I never had anything important to say anyways, so what’s the difference.

Well, with those words of encouragement, I’m writing my first Blog ever. Keep checking back here, because I actually do have some information to post about the coming world changing event, and no, I am not refering to December 5th (Day of the Ninja, www.dayoftheninja.com) nor am I talking about January 8th (the Kings birthday). Rather, I am talking about the first shipment of Shannon Road Ice Cream to be sold in an actual store, and not just out the back of the Golden Ice Cream Chariot.

Check out the rest of the website at www.shannonroadicecream.com. And fear not, we are still tweaking the look and feel of this blog/website to make it a bit more user friendly.

Until my next blog…
